Senses Weekend + The Arizona Trail

{Friday}

{Sight} We took an afternoon hike in Flagstaff, Arizona, which is about 2 hours North of where we live in Scottsdale, Arizona. Our hike was on the Arizona Trail, and went 2 miles in and 2 miles back. We try to shoot for around 4-5 miles for our hiking adventures. It was beautiful, and the temperature was at least 30 degrees cooler than in the Valley of the Sun.

{Scent} I bought Lovestruck by Vera Wang for the wedding. I was patient and didn't use a drop until the day of the wedding {11.11.11}. I've been using it everyday since because I can't get enough of this perfect scent!

{Sound} We listened to the second album of The Flight of the Concords on the way up to Flagstaff. It is so funny, and just as good as their first album. There is one song that I can't get out of my head, and everyone should give "Carol Brown" a listen.

{Taste} Every time we go on a hike we like to bring an energy bar. I've been in a peanut butter mood, so Clif Bar's Peanut Butter Crunch was the perfect solution.

{Touch} I bought this blue shirt at Old Navy for $3! It's the happiest blue, and the color just made me smile.

{Saturday}

{Sight} My friend Brian came down from Flagstaff, and we all went to see Prometheus. It was so good! I can't wait to see it again. I won't give any spoilers, but if you want some 'edge of your seat' entertainment, go see it :)

{Scent} I don't always light candles, but when I do, I light Nature's Wick Vanilla Dolce.

{Sound} After Prometheus, we went home and watched Alien {I had never seen it all the way through}. Everyone laughed at the corniness. I think I laughed hardest of all.

{Taste} After work I picked up my favorite coffee {Iced Vanilla Soy Latte} from Starbucks. Patience is a virtue. I got it for free because they messed up my last one, and gave me a coupon.

{Touch} We went to ACE Hardware because they were giving away a free quart of paint. We both picked up a quart of Clark + Kensington, so we have enough to paint a large wall in our living room. They can match any color, so we brought a paint chip we already picked out. We are painting the wall today, and I can't wait to post photos!

{Sunday}

{Sight} I made a Father's Day card on Shutterfly for my dad. I got to include photos from him walking me down the aisle. It was really special, and I was so happy when I heard he wanted to take it to work and show everyone. My mom also mentioned wanting to take it to her work to show people, and that just made my day!

My dad sent me this photo of my Grandfather in World War II.
This is the first time I've seen him.

{Scent} We went over to my Father-in-Law's house for a little pool, and grilling. We brought over some veggie burgers, asparagus, and corn on the cob. The best smell was the asparagus... yum!

{Sound} After grilling, we watched a Louie Anderson stand-up. I hadn't heard of him before, but apparently he is making a comeback. He was really funny!

{Taste} We went over to my dad's house, and for dinner my sister made a delicious whole wheat pasta with shrimp, and my mom made her famous tuna ball. It was all yummy.

{Touch} Before Brian left to go home, we watched Pulp Fiction {"Go make yourself a drink and I'll be down in two shakes of a lamb's tail"} and after watching the scene where they talk about foot rubs, I got one :) I'm one lucky lady!

  1. The hike looks lovely. We hike some of the Florida trail when we can and eventually aspire to hike the Appalachian Trail (fingers crossed on that one). Finally started on the title posts you so patiently explained to me. T've still some work to do on them, but if you'd like to see your handiwork:

  4. Sounds like an awesome weekend with a great Father's Day. That hike looks gorgeous and so does your wedding photo. I haven't seen Prometheus yet but I've been wanting to. We love Flight of the Concords whenever we need a laugh.
