~ING + An Impressionist

In LA {February 2012}. It's the little things in life that make me smile.

{Going} I really, really can't wait to take a trip to the East Coast. Travelling is my favorite thing to do. I want to see every inch of the world that I can. It runs in my family, we all have an urge to see new places, and different cultures.

{Making} Right now, I'm working on the "DIY String Map Art". The primer is dry, and now it's time for a coat of paint. It will probably be all done in the next couple days.

{Doing} Rearranging things around in our living room is fun to me. Even when I was a kid, I would be laying in bed in the middle of the night, and suddenly get up and move a bookcase, or my dresser just to make the room feel fresh.

{Thinking} I went to college right after high school, for two years. Those two years were pretty tough for me, because I had a slew of misfortune. My mom had a ruptured brain aneurysm, I got scarlet fever and mono, worked full-time, and went to school full-time. It wasn't just those misfortunes, because I also focused way too much on my social life. After those two years, I enrolled in Arizona School of Massage Therapy. I received my license to practice massage therapy, but it never really made me happy. Yesterday I went back to the community college I left a couple years ago. I've been thinking about how a lot of the people I know are finished, or are close to finishing college, and now I want to go back and basically start over. I talked to an advisor about becoming an Elementary School Teacher. That's basically what I've been thinking about lately, and I'm really excited to get started.

{Wanting} I believe it's good to keep a little wish list. If I could magically possess something of my fancy, it would be a sewing machine. I've had my eye on a Hello Kitty one from Target for over a year now.

{Laughing} While making Jason laugh by doing a funny dance during a commercial break {why does Hulu Plus have commercials anyway?} I started to laugh. We love being goofy.

{Absorbing} For my birthday {in April} Jason took me to the Arizona Science Center to see a moving Vincent van Gogh exhibit. He got me a little book that talked about the works shown, and the history of his life at any given point in time. He was brilliant, and as an artist {I paint, as well} I try to absorb all his wisdom.

{Gazing} It's about time to break out the comfy blanket, telescope, and star chart. There is a really great park not too far from us, and I want to brush up on my Astronomy.

{Daring} I'm daring myself to get up at 4 am someday this month and hike Camelback Mountain. It's way too hot to hike much later than that, because of Arizona's crazy summers. It's a really beautiful mountain. I've done it before, but it's been years.

{Influencing} I try to live a life that I'm proud of. I eat healthy, and try to exercise everyday. I almost always say 'please' and 'thank you'. I hold the door open for people, give compliments every chance I get, and simply smile. I hope that next time I go out of my way for someone, they will go out of their way for someone else.

{Additional Craft Love}

With this idea, you could make a cork board
into anything! I like this for places you've
been.

I want to do a "G" and put it in our garden.

This is the Alice in Wonderland
of pots!

An old trash can spray painted and flipped over! I love repurposing things :)

  5. I am actually leaving to go the East Coast tomorrow!! I am originally from there so I am super exited you should definitely go sometime! About the school thing, you and I had a similar journey I went to school and got my associate's after high school but a bunch of stuff happened with my family and I ended up taking a loooong break, finally started nursing school realized that was not for me, and now am in a Fashion Design program and I love it and am so excited about it! I totally understand how intimidating it can be and feeling like you are behind the curve, but I see the break I took as a blessing, it really made me think about what it is I wanted to do and not what I thought I should do or what my parents wanted me to do :)

    1. I see now that I needed the break, just as you did. In that time I learned to appreciate education more, and now I'm at a point where I actually want to learn and find something that makes me happy. Thank you for telling my about your journey. I feel less behind, and more like this is what was supposed to happen all along. I'm going to check out your blog right now :)
