Hollow Book + Our Chamber Of Secrets

The name is perfect, and so was the price.
We got it at Goodwill for $1.50!

All the tools you need to hollow out a book.

We decided to keep the first chapter plus one extra page.

A concoction of water + Elmer's glue to adhere the pages together.

Measuring out how big we wanted the box.
We kept the page header + page numbers.

Ready to cut!

Use a box cutter/utility knife to cut the pages.
One with a new blade works particularly well.

Use the glue concoction on the inside to make everything stay.

That extra page in addition to the first chapter we kept was glued to the top of the box.
We did that so you wouldn't see where we drew the lines to measure it out.

And no one can tell the difference :)

Both of us always wanted to do this, but when I thought that The Chamber of Secrets would be the coolest book to do, it was all the incentive we needed. It was a lot of fun and pretty easy to do. I suggest getting a book from Goodwill, because like I said before, you can't go wrong with a $1.50 project! We made this to hold the money we are saving for our little trip this summer.
