~ING + Amy's Tiara

Weeping Willow, Giverny by Claude Monet in 1922.

{Believing} I've never been a good student. I've always had kind of a chaotic life. In order to cope with such chaos I surrounded myself with friends, and didn't bother too much with studying and homework. I went to a community college right after high school and gathered some A's in my art classes, but everything else was put on the back burner. I decided to stop going there to obtain a license to practice massage therapy, but soon after I graduated I realized that it wasn't the right choice for me. I have a love of learning, and not until I realized that did I have a desire to finish what I started previously at Scottsdale Community College. Currently I have straight A's, studied for every test, and turned in every homework. Maybe some people are late bloomers, but for the first time in my life I actually believe in myself and know that I am capable of anything.

{Making} The fabric I ordered to make our curtains arrived earlier this week, so last night we got to work on it. I am so lucky that my mom has a history of knowing her way around a sewing machine. She used to make halloween costumes for my brother, sister, and I. Anyway, we went over to my parent's house last night and she taught me {and Jason} how to use the sewing machine. I was really excited because I had never used one before. I realize now how hard it is to sew a seam in a straight line. I figure all the shakiness adds character *wink*. Six hours later, at 1:30 am we finished the curtains and now we just need to put the rods up!

{Doing} I notice that when I go to Starbucks to do homework, study, or take an online quiz that I focus a lot better than I do at home. Jason and I have been going often, in fact we are sitting at our favorite Starbucks on our laptops right now :)

{Thinking} October is almost here and I can't stop thinking about where we are going to move! I'm also a little worried about going to school somewhere else. I'm not concerned if it is the United States, but if it's another country I wonder how hard it would be to get accustomed to a new learning environment. I suppose there is always the option of taking online classes.

{Wanting} I've been wanting to try a product from Weleda. It's a natural skin care line. It's a little pricey, but there are always deals out there if you look hard enough.

{Laughing} As I watched the clip again I bursted out laughing! I love the scene in Season 5 of The Big Bang Theory when Sheldon gives Amy a tiara. This is my favorite thing ever.

{Absorbing} I am absorbing every bit of information I can from all my classes. Wow, I'm such a nerd.

{Gazing} Every time I gaze up at my globe I think about all the adventures I want to take with Jason. He is the best person in the world to travel with. He likes to see new places, doesn't mind visiting museums or looking at old architecture, and likes to play games. We are soul-mates.

{Daring} I dare myself to make time for my blog even though I've been super busy! It's been over a week since my last entry and I really miss it. In addition I also dare myself to keep up with doing something creative every weekend. If I go too long without making something I don't feel like myself.

{Influencing} I went to a lecture given by the Phoenix Art Museum's curator. It made my love for art deeper, even though I couldn't believe that was possible. Art is so influential, and I need to make time for my painting again. It's been a long time, and that is another thing that feels "off" about where I am today. I want to make sure to read up on when there are other lectures, because it was wonderful to hear her perspective on art throughout the years and from around the world.

♥ What do you do to make time for the things you love when you are really busy? I hope everyone had a great weekend!

  2. I went to college right out of high school and just couldn't engage with it. I didn't know what I wanted to do and eventually left. I did other things for four or five years until finally realizing that I wanted a degree. I went back to school at 27 and got my degree in history with a minor in art history. It was fantastic! So much better at an age that I could really appreciate it. I'm not an artist but I fell in love with studying art and the history of art. I'm grateful that my mom passed on her love of sewing to me as well. It's fun to be able to create anything I want. I am the same way with being able to focus. I've gotten into the habit of going to the Starbucks in Barnes and Noble every morning. I get a lot more work done when I'm there. I just love that environment.

    1. It definitely feels like I can focus on learning more now that I'm a little older. It's a priority to do well. I loved learning how to sew from my mom! I need serious practice though. I just want to be able to sew a straight line ;) Starbucks is a wonderful place to get stuff done!

  3. I believe that there really are late bloomers out there (as far as school is concerned) because that’s how I was too. I barely graduated with a C/D average—but when I decided to go community college on my own I got nothing but A’s and B’s. + congrats on making the curtains! I can’t believe that was your first project as a newbie. I think my first sewing project was a pillow—and it sucked, haha. Oh and I LOVE the Big Bang Theroy :-P

When I have lots of things to finish, I just do one thing at a time and try not to start another project until one is finished.

I love your blog would you be interested in follow for a follow via GFC?
