Winter | January 2014
Watching: Last night Jason and I finally watched the season premiere of Downton Abbey. We haven't had too much time to watch television, but we are both really excited for The Walking Dead to start back up again next month. Anyone else counting down until February 9th?
Reading: I wish I could say something cooler than my textbooks, but classes started back up on Monday so I have been trying to finish all my assignments before the weekend. Jason and I have some fun plans and I don't want to be stuck with my nose in a book.
Loving: My new espresso maker. I'm completely obsessed. It took me a couple tries to really get it down, but now I can confidently say that I make one mean vanilla latte. If you want me as your barista you are welcome to come over anytime.
Playing with: Finding a place for all of our things in our new apartment. We discovered that our entertainment center doesn't really fit in our new place, so we are planning a little road trip to Houston, TX to pick up something new from IKEA. It's the closest location, but we don't care because we wanted to explore the city more anyway.
Thinking about: O Me! O Life! by Walt Whitman from Leaves of Grass 1892.
Oh me! Oh life! of the questions of these recurring,
Of the endless trains of the faithless, of cities fill’d with the foolish,
Of myself forever reproaching myself, (for who more foolish than I, and who more faithless?)
Of eyes that vainly crave the light, of the objects mean, of the struggle ever renew’d,
Of the poor results of all, of the plodding and sordid crowds I see around me,
Of the empty and useless years of the rest, with the rest me intertwined,
The question, O me! so sad, recurring—What good amid these, O me, O life?
Answer.
That you are here—that life exists and identity,
That the powerful play goes on, and you may contribute a verse.
Working on: I have been planning a bunch of fun weekend trips, both close and far. I just found out that there is a castle an hour and a half away - the true beauty of the internet.
Tasting: Seriously, cinnamon raisin Ezekiel bread from Trader Joe's is bomb. Enough said.
Listening to: I am still loving Passenger's album All the Little Lights. His lyrics, voice, and humor are simply amazing.
Anticipating: I can't wait to go to Oak Alley Plantation on Sunday. We were supposed to go last weekend but we had a bit of a flea fiasco. Luckily we are currently sans fleas and ready to spend the upcoming weekend exploring our new state.
Thank you to Danielle at Sometimes Sweet for the idea for this post. What are you currently into?
I can't wait to watch Downton! I've got the whole season waiting for me!
ReplyDeleteThat is such a beautiful poem xx
I love Walt Whitman's poetry!! I have one song from Passenger, but I want more because I also love his voice!

I adore The Walking Dead! If it is possible to adore a show about zombies haha. The cast/characters are terrific. I watched it on Netflix and I am four episodes away from finishing season 3 and then I need to watch season 4 eps. It is so good though.
