Hobbits, Thrones + Autumn 1922

The list of books I want to read is endless, but these are my current interests. Have you read any of these books? Do you have any others that you'd like to recommend? I love knowing what books people are reading. Happy Friday ♥

  1. I have read The Hobbit and The Help. Both very different from one another but both quite excellent. I started Valley of the Dolls once but couldn't get into it, but that's just me. And The Great Gatspy is also on my 'must read' list. Have a great weekend :)

    1. I've heard really good things about The Hobbit. I want to read it before the movie comes out in December. I think I have plenty of time ;) I hope you have a wonderful weekend too!

  2. All of the games of thrones books are amazing! I hadn't read much in terms of 'fantasy/sci fi' books since I was in jr high or elementary school... but these are awesome. I would recommend them all day long :)

The help was a really good book. It wasn't too long, and it was moving. I haven't seen the movie yet because I'm afraid it will ruin it, like so many others.

    1. I made the mistake of seeing the movie first. It was a really great movie, but the books are always better! I can't wait to read it :)

  3. I read the great gatsby back in college and can't wait for the new movie to come out. My husband has read both of the sedaris books and has encouraged me to read them. I haven't yet, but he says they're really good. My coworkers left a giftwrapped copy of fifty shades of grey on my desk earlier this week, ha ha. They said i have to read it. I wasn't sure it's be something i'd read, not really my style, but they keep going on and on about it, so… we'll see. Right now i just checked out a whole slew of books on sewing (still learning), so that's what i want to read right now =)

    1. That's cute that your coworkers gift wrapped you a copy! I'm just curious what all the hype is about :) I want to learn more about sewing. I've never used a sewing machine, and it's always interested me to make my own dress.

  4. The Hobbit and the Game of Thrones are soooo good!! I read the first two books in the Song of Ice and Fire series. I'm curious about Fifty Shades of Grey since everyone's talking about it, but as a writer it would just kill me to read terrible grammar! Haha! Right now I'm reading Storm Glass; it's a fantasy novel.

    Happy weekend!

    1. Have you heard bad things about the grammar in the book? I haven't heard about that, but it would bother me too. Happy weekend to you too, my dear :)

  5. The Hobbit, Game of Thrones, and The Help are all excellent reads! I don't really recommend Fifty Shades.... I must say it was interesting to read, but the writing was just horrible, the characters stories/lines were not creative and the plot just couldn't really hold my attention. Many women like it because of, well duh, the sex, but I've read plenty of other fantasy, fiction, urban fantasy books that have less sexy time and are infinitely better/ well written. I would recommend the Mercy Thompson series by Patricia Briggs, it's one of my fave urban fantasy series. I have more awesome books/ reviews on my blog too if you want to check them out :)

  6. Thanks for the recommendation! I love hearing about new books that I haven't heard of :) I didn't know that 50 Shades of Grey was so poorly written. It looks like a lot of people have good things to say about The Hobbit, Game of Thrones and The Help. I've heard about all three from a bunch of different people. I can't wait to start them!

  7. Of all of these, I've only read The Great Gatsby and 50 Shades of Grey. I've been wanting to read The Great Gatsby again because it's been so long. Great list of books, I'm going to have to read some more of these.

  10. great list!
I've read The Help and it's amazing even for someone like me who has absolutely no personal relation to the topic^^
I'm still not sure whether I want to read Shades of Grey but it's everywhere and I can hardly complain about it if I haven't read it, right? Maybe I'll lend it from a friend^^

  11. What a list! I would def suggest Game of Thrones (so much more detail than the show!) and 50 Shades of Grey (probably the most poorly written book ever, but a HOT page turner!) Are you a hard copy or kindle gal?
